Production
In-Home Lesson | $130 per 1 hour
Learn to create songs from start to finish using Ableton Live or Logic Pro. From beat-making to mixing, develop the skills to write and produce in your favorite genre with hands-on guidance. Unlock the tools to bring your musical ideas to life! Recommended for ages 12 and up. Please inquire about younger students.
Teachers
Matthew Engst is a versatile music producer, composer, and pianist with expertise across pop, hip-hop, electronic, jazz, and musical theatre. He collaborated with legendary producer Max Martin on the acclaimed musical & Juliet and co-produced a Christmas song for multi-Grammy winner Michael Bublé. His collaborations also include platinum-certified Sofia Carson, as well as Bastille, one of the world’s most streamed bands.
In the electronic scene, Matthew is one-half of Haddadi Von Engst, whose music has been featured on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. He also co-produced and co-wrote one of Vintage Culture’s biggest tracks—the #9 DJ in DJ Mag’s Top 100—amassing over 60 million streams.
Beyond the studio, Matthew is a dedicated educator. He previously taught at the renowned Musicians Institute in Hollywood, mentoring students in piano performance, live musicianship, and music production. In addition to his institutional teaching, he has spent many years working one-on-one with private students of all ages, offering a personalized and well-rounded approach to learning.
Chau Phan is a vocal coach with a holistic approach, blending music and movement to refine vocal technique. She’s been a signed artist, worked with legendary producer Max Martin, written for pop icon Cyndi Lauper, and sung background vocals on some of Britney Spears’ biggest hits. She specializes in contemporary pop, musical theater, and classical, helping students excel in both live performances and recording sessions.
As an experienced yoga and Pilates instructor, Chau integrates posture, breath control, and core strength into vocal training. She has privately coached high-profile artists, including Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Tove Lo, where she focused on enhancing their spiritual and mental well-being alongside their physical abilities.
As a mother, she loves working with young learners, staying connected with current trends to inspire them in fresh, exciting ways. Whether coaching aspiring professionals or young singers discovering their voice, she creates a supportive environment that nurtures artistic growth and self-expression.
